The print-and-fold template
One sheet of letter paper with every fold line, every cut line and the instructions for the OmniWing printed on it. Print it at full size, fold the lines you see, and fly. No measuring, no screen on the table.
What is on the sheet
- Every fold at its true positionThe lines come from the same fold geometry as the free guide, so line 4 on the paper is exactly where step 4 folds. Blue dashes are folds, all made toward you onto the printed side.
- Every cut, in orangeThe trailing-edge cut, the keel strip and the two covers, with scissors marks where to start.
- Nothing to measureThe quarter marks are printed. The nose fold has a tick. Both sides have their own lines, so there is no folding-in-half-to-copy.
- Instructions where you can see themSteps 1 to 5 sit on the flaps that fold away first. Steps 6 to 8 are on the strip that rolls over next. Steps 9 to 12 are on the piece you cut off and keep in hand.
- Parts that fold up cleanThe keel and the two covers carry their own fold lines and text, and that text folds to the inside. The finished wing shows only its name on one wing and the launch notes on the other.
- A 1-inch check barSo you can confirm the print came out at actual size, which is the one thing a template needs.
- Step numbers that match the free guideStuck on a line? The same number on the website shows the step with Mike's video.
Honest note
The step-by-step guide on this site is free and stays free, with Mike's videos beside every step. The template is for when folding from a screen is the wrong tool: a classroom, a party table, a rainy afternoon with a stack of sheets, or a kid who would rather fold than read. Print as many copies as you like for your own use or your students.
Questions
- What do I get?
- A one-page PDF, US letter, landscape. Pay once, and the download link arrives by email within a minute. No account, nothing recurring.
- How do I print it?
- Plain printer paper, 100% or "actual size", landscape. Never "fit to page". Check the 1-inch bar in the corner against a ruler.
- I only have A4 paper.
- Print at 100% on A4, then trim the sheet to 8½ by 11 inches on the printed edge marks before folding. The folds reference the paper's edges, so the size matters.
- Does it work for the Proto OmniWing or the Advanced wing?
- No, this sheet is the OmniWing. The Proto is simpler and folds fine from the free guide; the Advanced wing starts from a finished OmniWing and is covered in the Advanced guide.
